It happened at precisely noontime the following day. The sun was at its highest point in a completely cloudless sky.
There was a commotion in the street. Jov knew it before it happened. He had been crunching numbers on a cracked screen, anything to stave off his dread of the next explosion, tracking weather patterns, when the screen skipped. Popped. Sputtered.
One moment his fingers were on the keys. The next moment, they were not. Their touch, their feel, scattered. He ran to the window.
